This is a sophomore physics course at Rice that I have taught in the past. I’m leaving the problem set and lecture notes here in case anyone finds them useful. The powerpoint presentations are fully animated and can be used as an electronic blackboard. The “b” version of each presentation has the animations removed. I used the “b” version on a second projector. Enjoy!

Dear Prof Hafner,
I am currently enrolled in your archived course for waves and optics on the edx platform and have to say that your teaching style and methodology is absolutely fantastic! If its not too much of an issue, I would like to request you the answers to the multiple choice questions to ensure that my understanding is ok.
Hi Shrey, Thanks! Is the archived course not showing the answers after you attempt the question? If not I will try and fix it. I would rather make the course platform work correctly than post answers here.
I am in the process of converting 201x to a live “student-paced” course, but I can’t say when it will be ready!
Hi Prof,
It definitely is working now! Thanks for being quick and looking forward to the “student-paced” version!
Best,
Shrey
Dear Professor Hafner, it seems that the show-answer problem was only temporarily resolved as I cannot see the answers to the lecture quizzes as of today (answers are indeed available for the problem sets). Several other students who have set out to work on the course in archived mode have posted similar messages on the forum of the course, posterior to May the 20th, 2017. We would be grateful were the show answer button to be restored for the lecture quizzes, if your schedule allows for the implementation of such a fix.
I am in any case already infinitely grateful for all the content you have published online, I have personally completed both parts of Electricity and Magnetism, already some years ago.
Have a nice day
I should say that your ppt is really really lively and of high level . May I ask for the access to the later chapters ,namely light and optics?
I had been taking PHYS201 on EdX and yesterday the course had a description: this course hasn’t started yet. I wonder if it is going to be available back soon since it was helping me learn about the course in an exciting way.
